Stratton School Garden and Nutrition Program News:

We are proud to be participating in Maine Harvest of the Month, a program that picks one locally grown fruit or vegetable that will be featured and served at least twice per month!

October is Maine grown apples! The kids loved these North Star Orchards macs and as an added bonus yesterday we had more cucumbers out of the dome!! That brings the grand total to 25 pounds harvested this season.

We are happy to report after growing cucumbers, peppers and chard in the dome we have a massive increase in students choosing them at lunch.

During Garden lessons Grades K-2 have been studying parts of plants. They have designed and illustrated imaginary plants that had all the parts of a real plant. Students also worked collaboratively to create vibrant colored leaf rubbings.
